Kilimanjaro
as symbol
Our project base is in northern Tanzania, at the foot of the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro. As Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro is not only a natural landmark but also a powerful symbol of climate change. Its shrinking ice cap shows how global environmental changes are becoming visible in even the most recognisable places on Earth.
The Kilimanjaro region is a unique and vulnerable area where diverse microclimates, agriculture, tourism, forests, wildlife, and local communities converge. This makes it a meaningful testing ground for sustainable development, but also a place where the effects of climate change are already clearly seen and felt. If we fail to care for nature, this mountain could lose its white crown forever, and the people of Kilimanjaro could lose even more.

to a greener future
Our work focuses on practical, climate-related action in this iconic region. We work with schoolchildren of all ages in Moshi, Lower Moshi, Arusha and the Hai District, together with local schools, authorities and organisations. By starting at the grassroots level, we aim to improve the living environment for children and their communities while helping build a greener, more resilient future.
