why our work matters
Climate change is real, and its effects are already being felt in Kilimanjaro. The region’s iconic snow-capped mountain is changing, while communities face more extreme weather, from heavy floods to prolonged droughts.
For children, these changes are not distant or abstract. They affect daily life. During the rainy season, floods can make the journey to school difficult and unsafe. During dry, hot periods, many schools lack sufficient trees to provide shade, leaving children exposed during breaks and outdoor activities.
This is why our work matters.
What we do
Through our Climate Care by Kids educational programme, we help children understand the challenges around them and give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to take action. They learn about trees, water, waste, food, energy and the importance of caring for their environment.
But the impact does not stop in the classroom. Children take what they learn home. They share it with their families, influence their friends and inspire their communities. In this way, education creates a ripple effect from one child to one family to a wider community.
