The Green Corridor Project

From Dust to Green

At Mtakuja B Secondary School in Lower Moshi, Tanzania, Greenmanjaro and local partner FTK are working together to transform a barren school environment into a thriving green space for learning.

The Green Corridor Project brings together Greenmanjaro’s four core pillars: climate education, tree planting, plastic recycling and vegetable gardens. Together with solar energy and eco-cooking solutions, these initiatives aim to create a greener, healthier and more climate-resilient school environment for the school’s 400 students.

A new Kili Green Club introduces students to climate change through Greenmanjaro’s Kili Lighthouse Educational Programme and practical environmental activities. Meanwhile, carefully selected trees will provide much-needed shade, a school vegetable garden will teach sustainable agriculture, and newly arrived plastic recycling machines will show students how waste can become a valuable resource.

The project also aims to inspire other schools and communities across the Kilimanjaro region. Through The Story of the Green Corridors, an educational documentary currently in development, we will share the challenges, solutions and lessons learned along the way.

Our vision is simple: greener schools, empowered students and lasting environmental change.
