A milestone for Greenmanjaro

The Future Is in Our Hands officially approved for Tanzanian secondary schools

Greenmanjaro has reached an important milestone. The Future Is in Our Hands has been officially approved by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE), under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, for use as an extra-curricular resource in secondary schools across Mainland Tanzania.

‍

Created for Tanzanian students aged 13–16, the colourful 80-page book turns climate education into practical action. Across 12 units, students explore topics including climate change adaptation, plastic pollution, healthy soil, tree planting, vegetable gardens, biodiversity and green careers.

Each topic combines knowledge with practical activities, helping students understand the challenges around them while building the confidence to take action in their own communities.

The book is accompanied by a Tips & Tricks manual for teachers, providing additional guidance and ideas to bring the topics to life in the classroom.

The approval marks an important step in Greenmanjaro's ambition to make climate education accessible to more young people. It opens the door to reaching many more secondary schools and thousands of students across Tanzania.

At the heart of the initiative is a simple belief: young people should have the knowledge, confidence and opportunity to help shape the future they will inherit.

‍

We are grateful to everyone who helped bring The Future Is in Our Hands to life, including Zamaradi Said, hey.iszo, Ajeka & Fox, and the many teachers, volunteers and supporters who contributed along the way.

The future is in their hands.
